Some flavors are ment to be

Have you ever come across some things that just seem to go together?
Well I have been interested in cooking for many years, and have followed the great chiefs on TV for many years. I have learned some of the culinary lingo, and have enjoyed the many different combinations of food that just seem to blend together. Most people know about bacon and eggs, peanut butter and jam, french fries and gravy, but there is a lot more than meets the eye. Here's were it takes a twist. Believe it or not I'm talking about relationships. I have not had a good relationship with my daughter for a couple of years, and I don't care to provide details out of respect. I know some flavors, like tomatoes and basil are classic in Italian cooking, and Ginger and Lime in Asian, or beans and peppers in Mexican, but there are some flavors that take time to appreciate. If you have never tried peanut butter and celery I know it sounds a little wierd, but give it a try. This is the tie in with my daughter. We haven't spoken in a year, but I can't help but think of her time to time. I can only hope that time will make us like peanut butter and celery... wierd but good! I guess it's the father in me that hopes it will develope into flavors like tomatoes and basil, or peanut butter and jam, but like all great flavors it can take time to blend.
She is the mother of my Grand daughter, and my youngest child. I have only ever wanted a Daddys little girl relationship with her, but that has been harder said than done. We have broken the ice thanks to her for calling me, and I'll be reseptive, but causious, and pray for the best. Wish us luck in creating an outstanding dish!

Gangsta gathering

Well here it is the night we've been waiting for, the start of the final Soprano episodes. My sons and I have been getting together to watch this program for the past couple of years. Ah there's nothing like sharing family time together. In case your wondering who's who starting from the left to right. That's Chris "smiley" gangsta...next is myself Ray "slim" gangsta, and on the far right is Ryan "trailer trash" gangsta. Better known as the "Motley Crew." Peace out!

Happy Easter

Here it is Easter time again, and I'm having Easter dinner with my parents. Turkey with all the trimmings is on the menu...YUM. We wish everyone a Happy Easter, and good health. My grand daughter is very happy because Grandma made sure the Easter Bunny went for a visit.

What a Long Strange Trip It's Been

This photo shows a few records, album, cassette, and CD's that have helped to shape me in my musical endeavour throughout my life. The album in the middle is a recording of Johhny Cash at Sun Records played at 33 1/3 rpm. I remember my father singing to this album as it played throughout our home when I was very young. The record to the right of it is a story song for children called Hobble-De-Hoy on Cricket Records that was played at 78 rpm one of the first records my parents bought for me(or my brothers and sisters) I can't remember, but I do remember listening to it alot.
As I grew older I remember I was greatly influenced by what my older brother and sisters were listening to. The records at the top show The Beatles, and the Rolling Stones in a 45 rpm format. When I was old enough to have my own record player(I think I was around 12 or so) I was spinning albums such as Kiss Live, Grand Funk Railroad, Buddy Miles, Light House, and so my record collection began. Today I still have around 200 albums. Not far behind was cassette technology, and I was buying them up too. My taste for music was leaning alittle more towards Hard Rock during my teens. I was into AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Judas Priest, and Mountain. I should mention before cassette came out there was 8 track. This was a terrible format that could not play continuously and while changing tracks you would hear a loud clunk sound. Thank God for cassette! Now that CD technology is here I found my self again buying them up like I did with albums, but now I have learned to burn my own, and I'm sure now my collection will grow even faster. With all the changes to how we record, and listen to music, and the availability via internet it's hard not to be a fan of music. I have enjoyed Rock music all my life both listening and playing it, but with all the exposure one can find now-a- days I'm enjoying a vastly larger selection.
